The construction principle of the HOPPECKE OPzV batteries is based on the use of positive armoured plates and on a fixation of the electrolyte by gelation. HOPPECKE OPzV batteries are maintenance-free with regard to refilling water due to their sealed battery design.

The use of positive tube plates of the battery type HOPPECKE OPzV ensures a long cycle life. This is achieved by the all-round protection of the active mass by the woven polyester bags. HOPPECKE OPzV with tube plates are therefore ideally suited for use in areas with high charge and discharge loads such as solar applications or for long bridging times such as IT/Telecom and safety lighting.

HOPPECKE OPzV batteries offer a design life of more than 18 years, a cycle life of approx. 1200 cycles at 80 % discharge depth and are classified as ""Long Life"" in accordance with EUROBAT.
